Fort Collins and the FortZED initiative are powered by a progressive 21st century utility. In addition to being the first municipal utility in the state and one of the first in the country to offer the option to purchase green energy in 1998, Fort Collins Utilities has also been a vital partner in FortZED initiatives, including a key leadership role in the RDSI project that allowed our private sector partners to test out a number of technologies that reduce peak energy use and integrate renewable energy into the grid. And while doing so, Fort Collins Utilities has been able to continue to provide electricity and water service to 65,000 residential and commercial customers at the sixth lowest electric rates in the state.
For residents and businesses, Fort Collins Utilities offers a number of programs and options to help improve and fund renewable generation and efficiency efforts.
